How the VAT relief solution works

There are no third-party Shopify apps required, and no ongoing subscription costs, only a one-off cost for integrating the code into your existing store. In summary:

It requires changes to product options (product variants), and a VAT variant option to switch the prices accordingly on the storefront is needed.
The customer's choice is saved for their browsing session.
Further items added to the cart will automatically use the customer's VAT relief selection.
Any stock management software can still connect.
The VAT declaration is collected in the cart.

The implementation does not use customer accounts. Because of this, the solution allows for complete flexibility in the cart and allows guest checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it be added to any theme?

Yes, but some themes are more complicated than others due to their structure and heavy use of Javascript. The more complicated themes take longer to integrate and cost is higher.

How much does it cost?

The cost of integration depends largely on the theme that is used. Some themes are easier than others, and if I've integrated with it before then it's much easier.

I can provide a quote once we've discussed the requirements and which theme is used.

Does the customer's VAT relief information appear against the order?

Yes, the customer's name and medical condition that is collected in the cart will appear against the order in the Shopify admin.

Does it work with stock management software?

Yes, each vat exempt variant pair can have the same SKU which can tie to your stock management system. I have clients that have had this integration for over five years and have had no issues.

Does the VAT relief integration use customer accounts?

No. The customer accounts are not used because they are shared across the Shopify platform. Also, using customer accounts would prevent guest checkouts.

Can I upgrade my theme after the VAT relief has been integrated?

Technically you can, although it would require copying the code across manually.

How long does it take to integrate?

It can take anywhere between 2 to 10 days to integrate depending on the theme and requirements.

Will my live store be affected during the integration/development?

No, I will work on a duplicate of your live theme so there is no interference on your live store. For test purposes, I will need to create one or two test products but these will remain hidden from view.
