Web Design Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Shopify website cost?

A typical Shopify ecommerce website costs between £3,500 and £12,000, depending on your requirements.

What is the design+code subscription? And is that all you offer?

The design+code subscription is a monthly design service that includes coding (i.e. web development). There are three plan options, each providing a set amount of hours per month.

The subscription service is suited to businesses that already have a website and need regular design and development work.

I also offer standard web design and development services for projects where you would rather have a quote and set project costs.

Do you offer SEO services?

No, I do not offer SEO services, but all the websites I build are built with SEO in mind. I believe in providing services that I know I’m good at rather than being a “jack of all trades” (and not particularly good at anything!).

I have teamed up with like-minded SEO/Marketing Consultants who are honest and trustworthy, and I can introduce you to them should you wish.

How long does it take to build a Shopify website?

Approximately 6 to 12 weeks, including design, build, testing and data import.

Do you build WordPress websites?

Yes, but it's not something I specialise in anymore. Many web designers focus solely on WordPress development and are more up-to-speed with it than I am.

Have you worked with Shopify Plus stores?

Yes.

Will I have access to the theme and design files after my Shopify store goes live?

Yes, of course! Once all invoices are paid, you can access the theme and design files. I use GitHub to store the theme files, so there is a record of all changes, which allows the theme to be rolled back if a feature breaks or something isn't quite working as expected. You will have access to the GitHub repository.

Another developer built my Shopify store, but I'm not happy with it. Can you help?

This would depend on how the theme is built. Some developers use third-party themes as a starting point and hack away at them to get the features you want, which makes these websites challenging to work with.

I need to look at the theme's code before deciding whether it’s cost-effective to continue developing or if better solutions are available.

Do you work with other ecommerce platforms such as WooCommerce or Magento?

I've worked with several ecommerce platforms such as WooCommerce and Magento in the past, but for the last few years, all of my work has been with Shopify stores. Currently, my focus is only on Shopify.

Can you set up a development store?

As a Shopify Partner, I can create a development store for you so you can begin setting up your products and collections whilst the theme is being designed and built.

You won’t get billed until the store is transferred into your ownership.

A development store can also be used as a staging server to mirror your live site, which helps when adding new features and testing design changes.

Do you adhere to Google’s Core Web Vitals requirements and best web practices?

Yes, I’ve done a lot of research and experiments with Core Web Vitals and implemented solutions that have positive results.
